The Light in a Dark World: Mechanical Training in Southeast Asia
In March, the ITEC mechanical team travelled to Southeast Asia to provide a six-day training in small engine repairs and maintenance. In a country where the majority of people rely on small motorbikes or scooters, the ability to fix these engines is invaluable. By empowering Christ followers with this skill, they can effectively serve their communities and share the gospel, particularly in areas predominantly influenced in beliefs of polytheism where traditional evangelism methods might face challenges.
The week-long mechanical training took place beneath the shadow of a large temple to a false god, serving as a reminder of the world’s desperate need for Christ. At the end of the week, all six trainees who are full-time disciple makers received certificates of graduation, and our team returned home encouraged.
At ITEC, we believe in the power of training to equip the indigenous Church with practical skills that impact their communities, providing a unique door opener through which to share the Gospel. If you would like to learn more about how you can have a long term impact on your next short term trip, we would love to connect with you!
