Together by Jaime Saint
Years ago, with my dad translating, grandfather Mincaye said, “I do not see it well that we walk God’s trail.” My dad hesitated to translate that, but Mincaye just waited. After my dad took his turn, Mincaye finished by saying, “Alone.”
The Great Commission is a task for all Christ followers , but often we need to be reminded that this mission is not one that we pursue alone. Certainly, we want to follow the trail that God marks for us, but we also want to do it together with other Christ followers where we are and those in other places around the world. Thirty years ago, the Waodani asked our family to teach them what only outsiders knew how to do so that they would be available when there was a problem, and so that they could share the gospel as they took care of their people’s felt needs. This led to my dad, Steve, starting ITEC. But the idea that started in the jungles of Ecuador is taking place around the world today.
By the end of this year, we will have conducted 25 trainings in 13 countries, traveled to 11 countries to do site visits and have had more than 25 speaking opportunities to share the mission and vision of ITEC. We already have 17 trainings scheduled from January to March of 2025. We exist to develop tools and train indigenous Christ followers around the world to meet the felt needs of their own people and those in surrounding communities (many unreached) as a door opener to share the gospel. This is the mission that the Lord put on the hearts of the Waodani people who gave it to my dad. But we don’t want to do it alone. We want to do it together. The most important thing you can do is to pray for us. We need wisdom and discernment to follow the Lord’s leading so that we know with whom to partner. Secondly, you can share this mission with your church family and join us on a training trip. You can also participate with us financially to help us to empower Christ followers around the world with a tool to show the love of Christ by meeting practical needs as a door opener to share the gospel. Join us as we further the Great Commission together.
