Is This Mission Possible? - Part 3 of 3

Our job is too big to finish... doing it our way!

We are indeed facing a seemingly astronomical number-three billion (3,000,000,000) people who have yet to receive the offer Jesus Christ made them. The numbers may be stacked against us, but there is hope in the same statistics. We have approximately 100,000 missionaries to work with. If each of those missionaries were to evangelize and disciple and oversee five hundred people each, we would be able to cover fifty million (50,000,000) people. That is a lot of people, but it represents less than two percent of the three billion Christ wants us to reach. What if we change the strategy and just ask each missionary to train sixty national believers in a given area? And what if we helped equip those sixty nationals to evangelize and disciple and pastor five hundred people each? Do the math:

100,000 missionaries x 60 indigenous trainees x 500 given the Gospel by each trainee = 3,000,000,000 people!

Imagine reaching half of the world's population with the Good News of who God is and of His love for them and of His place waiting for them! It is still a huge task, but approached this way, we would be a lot more efficient in getting the job done! An important ingredient in getting the job done is to encourage and make it possible for every believer to take part. It is especially critical to include indigenous believers in the plan because they know the language and the culture and because Christ told us to in the Great Commission. Not only is it the effective thing to do, but it is the obedient way to do it! Reaching our world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ can happen, but it will take a shift in our thinking to accomplish it. Reverting back to the strategy that Jesus proposed makes it possible for the Mincayes of the world to be involved too. It is truly possible! Maybe we all need to aim a little higher and dream a little bigger.
