How God Can Use You
For the past 2000 years, millions of Christians have faithfully ventured out into the mission field, whether it be for the long-term or on a short-term trip. However, many Christians tend to say, "that's not for me" or "how could God even use me? I'm not a preacher." The beauty of God's design for missions is that He calls everyday people with everyday skills to be a part of His everyday purposes. We only have to be willing and allow Him to use us.
In this clip from an episode of our Mission Minded podcast, Kevin Donaldson explains what he has learned from his time in the mission field and how God is now using him in retirement. He recalls how his father told him, "Learn anything you can, God will use it," and reflects how God is using his skills for the sake of the Great Commission, even in retirement.
In Luke 10:2 Jesus sends out seventy-two of His followers saying, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." We are still called to pray this prayer today, and to encourage the next generation to join the 'few' working to see God's Kingdom come. What skills has God gifted you that you can pass on to others?
