The Danger of Dominance in Missions

Because the North American church comes from a dominant culture, we must be intentional to listen and learn when interacting with churches from other countries. We need to rely on the input and perspectives of other cultures before every giving any input because when a person from a dominant culture speaks, the conversation is over.

In this short clip from Session 2 of the Missions Dilemma, Oscar Muriu shares how the dominance of the North American culture can hinder conversations in other countries.

"When the American speaks the conversation is over, no one else can add anything because the most powerful person in the room has given their opinion. Who would dare to challenge that?" - Oscar Muriu
