Why Training Needs to be a Part of Our Mission Strategy

Why train and equip indigenous Christians when we can do it for them? We can't do it for them! And we shouldn't, even if we could. Our mandate is to take what we have been taught and teach others to teach others.

And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." - Matthew 28:18-20

Paul said, "And the things which you have heard from me these entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also" (II Timothy 2:2). Jesus didn't say, "Follow me and I will give you fish." Instead, He took a bunch of common, mostly uneducated men and made them "fishers of men" (Matthew 4:19). Now He has commissioned us to do the same. Fishers of men need training and "tackle," which consists of door openers like ITEC's Portable Dental System. Using ITEC's video-based Non-Verbal Training System, we can actually train people who cannot read how to drill and fill teeth. The Waodani said, "If we can fix their hurting teeth, they will see us well, and we will teach them how God can fix their hearts so they can live forever." Our great omission in carrying out Christ's Great Commission is leaving national believers out of the game plan. ITEC is developing innovative tools and training systems that help national believers carry the Gospel to people everywhere.
