About LIFE University﷯ LIFE University is the division of I-TEC that focuses on the local mission field here at home. Globally, I-TEC has developed tools and technologies that meet immediate felt needs, loving people in practical ways that lead to meeting spiritual needs. Here in the United States there are just as many hurting people, but the needs just look different. We have access to doctors, dentists, and mechanics, but there is still a lot of pain and suffering all around us. Families are falling apart, the paycheck-to-paycheck mentality has become a way of life, and finding or keeping a job has become more difficult. LIFE University develops tools and training systems to allow people to grow intentionally in different areas of life by setting goals and applying Biblical principles in practical ways. By taking a deeper look into what God says about finances, careers, families, physical health, social interactions, intellectual growth and our spiritual walk, we will not only change our own life, but also help others in the process. Across the United States, people are hurting in many areas of life. Most of these issues do not have simple solutions. In fact, our culture tells us that many of these issues are normal and we should just accept them. Jesus consistently showed compassion by meeting people’s immediate felt needs. It is time that the church in North America accepts the responsibility of living intentionally to meet people in their time of need and point them to the One who has the answers to every issue of life.

The LIFE Series It starts at home. The problems that exist in the community around us are just as prevalent inside our church congregations. It is hard for the church to help hurting people when so many members of the body are facing divorce, bankruptcy, or unemployment. The 9-week LIFE Study takes a look into 7 areas of life that include: FINANCIAL Debt has become a way of life in America. A credit score, ironically, is looked at as a way of determining how successful a person is. The truth is that the borrower is slave to the lender, and our country is in bondage. By creating a spending plan, paying off debt, and saving for the future, people can change the course of their lives. CAREER Work is an investment everyone makes in order to provide for his or her household. Many are struggling to find a job, wanting to move up, or looking for a more fulfilling career. By realizing that God has uniquely equipped every individual with different strengths, passions, and abilities one can begin to ask, “What was I born to do?” rather than, “What pays the most?”. FAMILY 50% of all marriages in America end in divorce. The effects on a child who experiences divorce are staggering. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. By coaching people on how to relate to their spouse and show love to their family, people will learn how to beat the odds. PHYSICAL Our busy schedules and lives tend to involve convenient fast foods and little to no exercise. Over 60% of Americans carry an unhealthy amount of weight. Creating even a simple diet and exercise plan will empower people to lead a healthier life. SOCIAL Talking, visiting, and sharing life have been replaced in our culture by texting, tweeting, and Facebooking. Encouraging someone to become intentional about developing real friendships that edify those around them will inspire meaningful, long-lasting relationships. INTELLECTUAL The average person spends 2.8 hours a day watching television, making TV-watching the great American past time. This adds up to almost 43 days per year spent watching programs and commercials, which tell us of all the things we need in order to make our lives better. Going over the benefits of incorporating book reading and other positive material can stimulate one’s mind and give them a more positive outlook on life. SPIRITUAL The Spiritual area of our lives lays the foundation on which all the other areas are built. If we choose to live our lives intentionally point people to our Savior, we will live lives that are characterized by living intentionally in every area of our life to be lights in a dark world. The decisions we make on how we live each day either pulls people towards or pushes people away from Christ Jesus. The LIFE Study is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2013. LIFE Coaching LIFE coaching is meeting people one-on-one for real world, practical discipleship. There are people all over the United States who are hurting in many areas of life and are in need of practical solutions. LIFE coaching is walking through 7 areas of life with someone in order to help them determine and achieve goals. The ultimate goal is to be able to build a relationship by investing time in someone’s life rather than giving an immediate handout, which can lead to dependency. The church has tried every possible way to get the community to walk through the doors; IT IS TIME WE GO TO THEM.
